LED Studio Changelog

All notable changes to this package will be documented in this file.

  • Kept the prepopulated Orbitron sample font static so authoring text does not mutate its glyph tables or atlas.
  • Added vertical curved and corner boards, pipe-wrap presets and spherical LED boards with adjustable latitude limits, inside or outside faces, and optional closed poles.
  • Added hexagonal boards and cabinet layouts, optional partial edge panels, seeded whole-panel defects and a honeycomb wall preset.
  • Added spatial board groups that map content across each board’s physical position and size, including gaps and irregular panel arrangements.
  • Improved distant and sub-pixel board brightness, emitter transitions, diffusion halos, saturated colors and HDR presentation, including more consistent hex-emitter brightness.
  • Improved transparent-layer blending, content reduction, nearest sampling and defect flicker, and retained compositor shaders automatically in Player builds.
  • Improved URP Deferred and depth-priming support, depth and normal rendering, shadows, motion vectors, fog and stereo rendering. Fixed Metal shader warnings.
  • Added live-texture emission for compatible global-illumination setups and a realtime GI room example with setup guidance. Optional controls can limit update frequency, pause new lighting samples or clear the board’s GI contribution.
  • Added a clearer LED Board material inspector with named settings, contextual panel controls, grouped sections and reliable multi-material editing and Undo.
  • Improved saved-board rendering and animation in Edit Mode, source binding refresh and update scheduling.
  • Kept stationary and paused auto-scroll text visible across bitmap, TextMesh Pro and external renderers, and simplified text-source controls.
  • Organized example scenes into numbered folders with shared assets and added pipe-wrap, sphere, hex-cabinet and spatial-honeycomb demonstrations.
  • Expanded the manual with TextMesh Pro markup, renderer requirements and topology, cabinet-defect and group guidance.
  • Improved window layouts and sample-font stability, moved Custom directly after None in the Front Frame menu, and kept live group-status updates from interrupting inspector controls.
  • Added optional generated front frames with chamfer, round, cove, ogee, stepped, and reusable custom profiles; frame-only and rear-body combinations now support flat, curved, corner, and cylindrical boards with dedicated materials, stable high-detail profile winding, precise meter-range dimension sliders, and responsive authoring controls.
  • Added seven source-verified AI Skills for board authoring, content, groups, Timeline, runtime control, and rendering diagnosis, with repository-only benchmark scenarios and package validation.
  • Added Unity 6.7 lifecycle ownership for board, renderer, synchronization, preview, and editor state while retaining Unity 2022.3 support.
  • Removed the Wetzold-owned LED Studio source activation guard from the optional UniText integration while retaining UniText availability guards, so Asset Store imports compile its renderer without project-wide scripting defines.
  • Cleared define constraints from the optional UniText integration assemblies while preserving their LED Studio and UniText version defines.
  • Standardized Welcome and About menu labels to omit ellipses.
  • Updated the optional UniText integration for UniText 3.3 animation APIs. UniText 3.3.0-pre.7 is now the minimum supported version.
  • The welcome guide now opens once for standalone installations, stays quiet when bundled inside another Wetzold tool, and remains available from the Tools menu.
  • Rebuilt LED Studio, the Board Wizard, welcome screens, and every LED asset and component inspector with polished responsive UI Toolkit layouts.
  • Added consistent previews, validation, semantic status messages, compact asset creation, and safer editable lists throughout board, profile, source, playlist, composition, layout, and defect authoring.
  • Added an optional UniText 3 integration for multilingual shaping, bidirectional text, fallback fonts, emoji, markup, reusable renderer profiles, and UniText-powered text, timer, and score sources.
  • Added focused content, playback, configuration, fault, and diagnostics scripting views.
  • Removed mutable board implementation state from the supported scripting surface.
  • Fixed a large group of compiler warnings from the LED board scripting API in Unity 2022.3.
  • Fixed editor warnings during script reload when optional Text Studio or UniText rendering is installed.
  • Fixed edit-mode camera captures initializing an assigned render pipeline before Unity had finished restoring its volume settings.
  • Fixed topology and board-body controls not rebuilding generated LED meshes during slider, numeric, toggle, and dropdown edits, which could leave curved boards flat or hide the LED face until another setting changed.
  • Fixed the Board Wizard showing an empty preview for Text Studio text and creating Text Studio boards without their required rendering component.
  • Fixed internal bitmap text ignoring character spacing, and simplified every text settings inspector to show only the controls supported by the selected renderer.
  • Fixed nested LED inspector settings appearing without hierarchy indentation, making complex board configuration sections easier to scan.
  • Added reusable board topology settings for flat, curved, corner, and full 360-degree cylindrical LED boards.
  • Added optional board body extrusion so generated LED boards can have physical cabinet depth, side materials, and back materials.
  • Added board-level and group-level timing controls for clock mode, update phase, time scaling, maximum delta time, edit-mode ticking, and manual clock control.
  • Added source timing controls so content can update every frame, only when changed, at a fixed rate, or only when manually refreshed.
  • Added vertical and horizontal text scrolling, manual scroll offsets, seamless wrapping, scroll padding, and distribution controls for ticker-style signs.
  • Added text blinking with flash and fade modes, blink rate, on-time, dim alpha, and phase offset controls.
  • Added more complete runtime scripting for creating, configuring, and updating LED boards from code.
  • Added named content ports and live input binding for programmatic text, images, video, UI Toolkit, timers, scores, and custom sources.
  • Improved runtime board geometry controls, including emitter count and density changes, generated mesh refresh, board-body settings, topology assignment, and pointer-to-board hit mapping.
  • Added runtime controls for logical backgrounds, presentation backgrounds, live input bindings, source markup parsing, and board suspension.
  • Improved generated package asset repair for default LED materials and bundled TextMesh Pro font assets.
  • Added optional Text Studio-backed text rendering support when the Text Studio integration package is installed.
  • Improved Chart Guru integration guidance for optional scene-component and live-input chart binding.
  • Refined the Programmatic API and showcase samples with cleaner setup, live updates, emitter-count examples, generated board forms, and timing examples.
  • Improved playlists with reusable layered compositions and a much wider range of transition styles.
  • Added a faster text engine with TTF font support, multilingual text, richer styling, pixel-perfect sizing, and bundled example fonts.
  • Added UI Toolkit board display support.
  • Enhanced sample scenes.
  • Updated the customer manual and package documentation for the latest composition, playlist, text, and preview workflows.
  • Initial public release of LED Studio.
  • Included realistic LED walls, ribbon boards, perimeter displays, and multi-panel setups.
  • Supported text, images, video, render textures, Canvas, UI Toolkit, timers, scores, layered playlists, editor setup tools, and example content.
  • Supported URP, HDRP, and the Built-in Render Pipeline.
  • Required Unity 2022.3 or newer.
